How do we ratchet up the suspense? Well, where are those bodies stacked up? The bathtub. In the bathroom. The two cops are just about to leave when one asks if he can use the bathroom. If Ceasar says “no” it might look suspicious - and then they may want to search the bathroom. They’ll find the bodies for sure. So he has no choice but to allow the police officer to use the bathroom. This creates suspense in two ways - we have a cop in the bathroom with those stacked up dead bodies, and the other cop has more time to poke around the apartment. This is a great scene, and I wondered how this looked on the page - from the dripping blood in the bathtub to a puddle of blood covered by a rug which the cop steps on. Both of these were great on the screen, but how do you write about the cop’s shoe compressing the rug and forcing the blood to stain the surface? Here’s what that looked like...
